Do I have to sit in the same room as my partner?

There are a number of different ways that mediation can take place. At Reading Family Mediation we prefer to work with you together in the same room rather than having separate meetings with each of you.

We encourage you to actively participate and to listen as well as to talk to each other. Ultimately with the help of the mediator, you should be able to find your own solutions. Learning to communicate again at what may be a very challenging time for you both will provide you with tools so you can continue to communicate in the future, therefore, reducing the scope or intensity of any future dispute or conflict. This is particularly beneficial if there are children involved.
